Dips are one of the most popular party foods of all-time. It seems like my mother used to make this recipe every time she had an adult party when I was a kid. Although, this dip is not really nutritious, the clams are a good source of zinc, which is often missing in people’s diets.
My mother used to use regular cream cheese, but I prefer the 1/3 less fat Neufchatel cheese, sold in bricks next to the cream cheese in the grocery store. This dip can be served with vegetables, tortilla chips or whole-grain crackers for dipping. Mom used to serve it with potato chips. But, what can I say – that was traditional dip accompaniment at our house in the 1950′s and ’60′s.
